Think Global, Act Local

Cycle Workshop

Spanners and oily rags ensured we had safe bikes for winter after our bicycle maintenance workshop day in 2008.

GREEN DRINKS

Proven to be fun and friendly, Redditch 'Green Drinks' is an opportunity for local people to chat about social and environmental issues in a relaxed setting over a beer.

Since 2006 we have taken in some good real ale/cider pubs, including The Weighbridge, The Golden Cross, The Woodland Cottage, The Little Lark and The Gate Hangs Well.

For details of the next Green Drinks email greenitch (at) hotmail.co.uk or have a look at the calendar. Cheers!

FREEWHEELS

Eight keen pushbike riders arrived for a social ride (orgainised by Redditch Friends of the Earth) just 2 hours after a torrential rain on a day with two other local cycling events. We all got to know each other as we steadily rode along the National Cycle Route 5 to Kings Coughton. The quiet of the lanes was immense, only broken by the chirrup of birds in laden Hawthorn bushes. Lunch was welcomed at Coughton Ford.

Unfortunately, lunch was upset by a group of 4x4s. We stared in amazement as they drove up and down the River Arrow, making waves and driving up banks. Nevertheless, everybody enjoyed the ride and it was hoped we could do it again soon.

BIG PUB QUIZ

Our supporters taxed their brains at a Pub Quiz we organised, helping us to raise £200 for our campaigning work.

A local food buffet was provided by Worcestershire Farmers’ Markets and there was an obligatory round of questions on 'green issues'.
